Perhaps the most frequently expressed objection to the "conspiracy theories" only briefly covered on this site is this: "But dozens, or hundreds, of people would have to have been involved! Surely, somebody would have squealed by now."
Since the fairy tale of the Warren Commission began to unravel, this naive mantra has been repeated ad nauseum, often by planted media shills whose mission is covering up state-sponsored crimes, then routinely parroted by Joe Sixpack, whose blissful ignorance of the compromising facts remains inviolate. This simplistsic question has a complex answer:
First, although the occassional criminal suffers pangs of conscience so severe that he confesses without compulsion, it is rare. Most criminals, facing a long prison sentence or worse for their acts, prefer to remain forever invisible and mute.
Second, those involved in a conspiratorial crime (one or more persons) who may start squawking face the vengeful wrath of their confederates who could be implicated by the loose talk. Convenient "accidents," or sudden decisions to commit "suicide" often befall these souls.
Third, in government sponsored "black ops," cut-outs and contract operators are often employed to maintain plausible deniability. The world is full of well-trained mercenaries who will bomb or murder any target for the right price. They are employed by both criminal syndicates and intelligence agencies ( often one and the same). These professionals, or more amateurish actors recruited into a plot, are sometimes eliminated to insure that the tracks are covered. It's a dirty, double-crossing world in the shadows. Fourth, insiders have talked, but their confessions are never trumpeted on the nightly news digest—they are buried in some 500-page "conspiracy book," or in the ocean of Internet pages. If the poodles of our increasingly Pravda-like press corps do cover such insider knowledge, it is usually mixed with a heap of derision, the talker branded a paranoid lunatic or sensationalist confabulator out to make a buck.
Most people, busy with their families and careers, have little time, and often even less inclination, to study the evidence presented by dissident researchers. They depend upon Big Brother for the truth in a convenient sound bite. But for those with the inclination, curiosity and open-mindedness to examine the heresies that reveal the criminal actions of anti-democratic elements within our own government, the following resources are offered:
